🧶 How to Hand Crochet a Blanket (25mm Bulky Yarn)
Introduction
Make your own soft and cozy blanket using 25mm jumbo yarn – no hook needed!
This hand crochet pattern is beginner-friendly and perfect for quick projects.
📏 Materials Needed
-
Yarn: 25mm super bulky (approx. 1 kg total)
-
No hook needed – hands only!
(Optional: 25mm crochet hook)
🪡 Instructions
1. Start with a Slip Knot
Make a slip knot and tighten it around your wrist. This is your first loop.
2. Make a Chain
Create a chain of 20 loops (or however wide you want the blanket).
Pull the working yarn through each loop with your hand — just like finger crocheting.
3. Row 1:
-
Insert your hand into the second loop from the beginning.
-
Pull up a loop — you’ll now have 2 loops on your hand.
-
Yarn over (grab the working yarn) and pull through both loops.
-
That’s your first single crochet!
-
Repeat across the row.
4. Next Rows:
-
Chain 1 (pull one loop to create a turning chain), turn your work.
-
Continue making single crochet stitches into each stitch across.
5. Finishing the Blanket:
-
Once your blanket is the desired length (usually 25–30 rows), cut the yarn, leaving a 20–30 cm tail.
-
Pull the tail through the final loop and tighten.
-
Tuck in all loose ends with your fingers.

💡 Tips
-
Want a looser texture? Try half-double crochet or chain-and-pull-only rows.
-
Change colors every few rows for a striped effect.
-
Use arms, fingers, or a jumbo hook depending on your comfort.
