Hexagon Cardigan Crochet Pattern
Create a colourful crochet cardigan using Papatya Cake 209. This beginner-friendly project is made from two crochet hexagons that are folded and joined to form the body and sleeves of the cardigan.
Instructions
Getting Started
Begin with 6 chain stitches and join them with a slip stitch to form a ring.
First Round
Chain 3 and work the first group of stitches into the centre ring. Continue around the ring, separating each group with chain spaces to create six sections.
Join the round with a slip stitch.
Building the Hexagon
Continue working in rounds following the crochet chart below. Increase consistently at each of the six corners so that the hexagon grows evenly.
Continue until you have completed approximately 21 rounds, or until the hexagon reaches the size required for your preferred fit.
Second Hexagon
Make a second hexagon in the same way.
Assembly
Fold each finished hexagon to create one half of the cardigan. The folded shape will naturally form a sleeve and part of the cardigan body.
Place the two folded pieces together and join them along the centre back.
Join the upper edges as required to form the shoulder seams, leaving the front of the cardigan open.
Finishing
Once the two pieces have been joined, additional rounds can be worked around the sleeves and lower edge to adjust the finished length and fit.
